South 5th

Twice a year, for about three days, the light from the setting sun lines up perfectly with the streets of New York City which run east and west. I shot this scene on South 5th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, near 8 PM (Thursday).

Note: On the 12th, when the sunlight PERFECTLY CENTERED on the streets, clouds covered our sky.

That's gorgeous! And makes me wonder what's about to crawl out of that metal door. ;)

That gold diamond plate must sure cost the city a pretty penny.

That's a great contest that you sent me a link to. Thanks! Your picture is very nice also. Too bad the clouds obscured the sun on the 12th.
