It's
Beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Here's a peek at one of New York City's favorites: DE ROBERTIS on 1st Avenue in Manhattan.

Cafe
A lot of the fun of driving out of the city is going to or through little towns. This cafe window reflects some of the downtown area of White River Junction, Vermont. If you ever get near there, do stop in...

Big Wheel View
So, maybe the hotel where I stayed in New Hampshire for Thanksgiving didn't inspire THE SHINING. Though from New England, maybe Stephen King needed to go 2/3 of the way across the USA to Colorado's Stanley Hotel in order to come up with the idea of a winter caretaker losing his mind at a remote haunted hotel, et cetera. No matter. I submit to you my version of the view from Danny's big wheel...
NOTE: the double doors down the hall were only added in recent years.

Two on Tuesday
Cotton puff clouds make a good background for this lamppost at Park Row and Spruce Street, not far from the Brooklyn Bridge.
I like the surreal look to this midtown Manhattan composition on Sixth Avenue.

Razor Wire
Not necessarily a blessing but something that I have grown to like in a weird way--razor wire! Reminds me of "home", as in Brooklyn, NYC...

High Rise Sunset
Looking over the Metropolitan Museum of Art towards Columbus Circle and beyond...
I consider the chance to shoot from this apartment a blessing. A friend of mine had access and invited me. Without his help, this and several other photographs I made at this location would not exist. Cheers, M.G.!!

We've had some great clouds lately. Here they spice up the sky over TriBeCa in Manhattan...

Little Man
The little man wanders along in Manhattan on the west side. He enjoys the canyon views and never fears the dark.

Lower Manhattan
Near Broadway in Lower Manhattan, not far from the World Trade Center site, we see many different styles of architecture all together.

City Block
Here we see one block of Madison Avenue, from 89th Street at the bottom (south) to 90th Street. The large white vehicle in the left lane is a stretch Hummer limo.

Puddle Building
How deep is a puddle? Beyond the physical depth of the water, reflections on the surface offer fleeting glimpses into the pavement, like windows to another reality.

2 point 2
For 2.2 million dollars (US), this view could belong to you. Once again, we see the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in Central Park but now from 36 floors above the ground.
If you want to make an offer, I have a bridge downtown for sale as well.

Reservoir
A view from the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in Central Park...Here we stand on the south end looking toward apartment buildings on Central Park West.
Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you to all veterans for your service.

Hard to tell what might be happening outside a restaurant window on Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn...

Overcast ESB
Different weather but the same great building--the Empire State Building and its environs...

HBO Reflection
The steel and glass HBO building reflects the ongoing construction from across Sixth Avenue in Manhattan.

Sunday Extra
For a treat on Sunday: a slightly different look at the ESB than the one published yesterday...
Calm Before Storm
On Manhattan Avenue in Brooklyn, we see the calm before the storm--before the NYC Marathon. The blue dashes mark the course for the runners.
Another shot of the empty race course on the day before the race...

Keep Standing
The sign says "No Standing Anytime" but I hope the Empire State Building keeps standing for a long, long time. And, I will stand and watch for as long as I can, too...

Inspiration
I hear beyond the range of sound,
I see beyond the range of sight,
New earths and skies and seas around,
And in my day the sun doth pale his light.
A clear and ancient harmony
Pierces my soul through all its din,
As through its utmost melody--
Farther behind than they, farther within.
[from INSPIRATION by Henry David Thoreau]

Hydrant Story
Knowing that one must park a minimum of 15 feet from any fire hydrant adds to the story here. How do you see it?
