Heart for Liberty

Statue of Liberty with heart-shaped stone

A heart-shaped stone on the bank of the Hudson River at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, looking toward Liberty Island and Brooklyn in the distance...

I know this sounds silly, but I thought the Statue of Liberty was a LOT bigger than that!! It looks really small there. How big is it?
(Sorry, I'm a Brit, I don't know these things..)

What a gorgeous day. I envy that blue sky.

Remember what happens when you get some distance between yourself and an object? The object appears smaller. ;]

I took this shot about .5 mile from the statue which is 305 feet 1 inch (92.99m) from the ground to the tip of the torch (or 151 feet 1 inch [46.05 m] from the top of the base).

Love it. I was there on March 26 . . . spent that week in Manhattan. Loved every minute of it. That's was my 4th trip to NYC and I'm sure it won't be my last.

I absolutely cannot connect to Blog Explosion. I have been trying ALL DAY. Those new servers they got are obviously dysfunctional.
