Camouflage Starbucks

At the corner of Canal Street and Centre Street, you can barely see the Starbucks through all the surrounding activity.

Happy Halloween!

Monday Extra

Afternoon light dances on St. Mark's Place...

MetLife

Looking south down Park Avenue after sunset, we see the MetLife building, which stands above Grand Central Station in midtown Manhattan. Don't be afraid of the dark!

477

I suppose it's how you look at it--either 524 Manhattan Avenue or 477 Leonard Street. To the left, we have Manhattan Avenue; to the right, Leonard Street. A little address fun for the mailman, when you have your main entrance on the building's corner end.

Imagine

Today, I visited Central Park in the late afternoon and made a point of going to Strawberry Fields. This shot's for you, Kim!

I couldn't help but think, "imagine rats eating apples...and little pumpkins, too--oo--oo--oo--oo". ;]

Apple Skylight

You enter the Apple Store in SoHo and walk up the stairs, on your way to the Genius Bar or to browse software. Don't forget to look up!

Brooklyn Droids

These aren't the droids you're looking for. You don't need to see their identification papers. Move along...

D.U.M.B.O. Exclamation

Okay, one more from D.U.M.B.O. in Brooklyn...sort of a mini SoHo, in look anyway, with its tall buildings and narrow streets...

D.U.M.B.O. Kiss

As promised, for a Sunday Special, I give you 10 photos of the D.U.M.B.O. area of Brooklyn. Here, near the Brooklyn bank of the East River, "art" may put you in the mood.

The Brooklyn tower of the MANHATTAN BRIDGE.

A sculpture with part of the suspended deck of the bridge in the background.

Fun for feet of all sizes...

The neighborhood gets its name from being Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass.

Nothing happening around this loading area on Sunday.

In spite of the area's overt artistic sensibility, you can still find available space to "express" yourself.

You knew this was coming...

Something different, yet in the same few blocks area.

Part of the bridge overpass and a happy little cloud...

Bridge Cables

The Manhattan Bridge connects Manhattan's Canal Street to Brooklyn's Flatbush Avenue. Here we see some of the cables that hold up the suspended deck and roadway.

Two of the last three weekends, I visited and took a bunch of photos in the D.U.M.B.O. [Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass] area of Brooklyn. As a Sunday Special, I will post several D.U.M.B.O. photographs tomorrow.

A partly cloudy sky on the east end of Canal Street in Manhattan...as if there was another famous Canal Street in New York City...

Brooklyn Fence

If I ever move back home to Alaska, I will have to put razor wire on top of my fence.
...not so much for security but out of nostalgia for Brooklyn.

Vive la Différence!

New York City offers interesting juxtapositions of many differing objects, buildings, people, et cetera. Come for a visit and see for yourself!

Knocking Boots

All over New York City, especially in Brooklyn, you will find sneakers tied together and then thrown onto power lines. Fun for the shoe throwers, not so fun for the shoe owners...
Well, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, things can happen a little differently, as seen here.

Window Washers

High rise window washers always fascinate me. It has to be one of the craziest jobs. Even though no one would consider this building on 6th Avenue in Manhattan a skyscraper, in spite of the low cloud, still, the men work pretty far from the ground. Hats off to you!!

Give Puns a Chance

In these troubled times, we all need a little peace. This man here seems to be packing a peace. Or is he grabbing his peace and going home? Well, I've said my peace...

Hopefully, you don't get bored. I love the canyon look--this below Canal Street, with some cloud chaser...

JC Skyscraper

A peek at Goldman Sachs' 30 Hudson Street, the tallest building in New Jersey...We see
it here from a nearby Jersey City neighborhood. You would normally see it standing on
the bank of the Hudson River directly across from Lower Manhattan.
